I went to this lecture for a class, it was with the guy who wrote 500 Days of Summer. Pretty cool right? It gets cooler. About halfway through the lecture I discovered something. HE’S ACTUALLY WORKING AS A WRITER ON THE FILM ADAPTATION OF THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Now I know that I need to keep it professional and not fangirl because I want to work in this industry and all, which is why this is on Tumblr and not twitter! :p (haha jokes I know…) Also I got really excited and started freaking out in the middle of the lecture…oops? Pretty cool stuff though, makes me excited about the whats coming next as well as excited for the business that I hope to be a part of someday!
Soooo today in my reading pop culture discussion we were talking about Buffy and Ms. I-think-im-so-cool was being really condescending and nasty, especially when I brought up the fandom. Well next week we’re watching Supernatural and having discussions focused strictly on fandom. If she gets nasty again I don’t really think I’m going to be able to sit there and be polite. Something tells me I’m going to be breaking out my favorite nerdfighters quote next week
“…because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff… Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.”
Thank you John Green for giving me ammunition in the battle against condescending ignorant girls who don’t understand how incredible fandom truly is. It’s how I’ve made amazing friends and memories, and next week…well lets just say it’s going to be interesting…Get your tickets now folks, it’ll be a show!
